LITTLE CAESARS LOVE KITCHEN SERVES FREE PIZZA TO NEEDY IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Little Caesars Love Kitchen is rolling into The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center in Washington, DC to provide enough fresh Little Caesars pizza meals to feed nearly 600 people in need on August 22. “The Love Kitchen was created to provide quality meals for people who need them,” said Little Caesars local franchisee Richard Ruggiero. “As a member of the area business community, it’s important to me to support people when they need it and help make the community stronger. I’m excited to support this program with food and staff to provide a quality meal for people who otherwise may not get one.”

Major Steve Morris, Area Commander of The Salvation Army National Capital region, said, “We are very grateful to Mr. Ruggiero and the entire Little Caesars Love Kitchen team for providing those in need with these delicious and much needed meals.  Our hope is this will bring a smile to the faces of our clients with no place to call home and lighten their burden of wondering where their next meal will come from.”

In 2010, The Salvation Army GRATE Patrol provided over 54,000 nutritious meals to homeless men and women living on the streets of the nation’s capital. Created in 1985, the GRATE Patrol homeless outreach program brings help those without a place to live and call Washington’s streets home. The Salvation Army offers not only a nutritious meal to the clients, but employs a dedicated full time caseworker that helps them to find medical services and more.

The Little Caesars Love Kitchen has fed more than two million people in 48 states and four Canadian provinces. It has also responded to disasters such as the floods in North Dakota and Iowa, the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast area in 2008 and in 2005, the site of the World Trade Center attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and the 1995 Federal Building bombing in Oklahoma City. Established by Little Caesars in 1985, the Love Kitchen exemplifies Little Caesars’ strong tradition of giving back to America’s communities.

“We know that it’s important to reach out to the communities where we do business, and help make a difference,” said David Scrivano, president, Little Caesar Enterprises, Inc. “As a family company, we are proud to work together with our local franchisees and company-owned stores to coordinate the vehicle, staff and food and to be there for people in Washington, D.C. who need assistance.”

Local Little Caesars franchise owners and company regional offices donate all food and labor costs for the Love Kitchen servings.  An estimated 50,000 Little Caesars franchise owners and employees have volunteered their time over the years to support the program in their local communities.
